Sedella Housing Development, Goodyear, Arizona – DBA was contracted by the City of Goodyear for Meritage Homes to build two large box culverts to handle storm run-off from the nearby White Tanks Mountains along both Indian School Road and Citrus Road. The first such structure was a cast-in-place, three-barrel box culvert north of Indian School Road on Sedella Parkway. The second structure was a cast-in-place concrete box culvert with 6 barrels placed along the existing drainage ditch along Citrus Way near the intersection with Campbell Avenue.
Because the infrastructure for the housing development was being built, DBA’s work required communication and coordination with the other contractors responsible for building the roads and the utility contractors who were installing underground utilities including Southwest Gas, Arizona Public Service, Cox Communications and American Water. Access for these contractors was also a main concern. Additionally, the development was built directly south of the main runway for Luke Air Force Base. Noise was an issue for crews who were working when flight training was taking place requiring a modified communication system.
