Prasada, Surprise, Arizona – The Prasada in Surprise, Arizona is a large, master-planned, multi-use land development project along the new State Route 303. New freeway frontage of the development included a auto mall and other large commercial facilities requiring extensive earthwork and drainage structures to accommodate sheet flow in former farmland. The initial investment for the property includes a 1,200-acre commercial / retail area with another 2,000-acre section planned for residential housing.
As a general contractor for Infrastructure Dynamics, Inc. and RED Development, DBA was contracted to complete construction of 14 separate multi-barrel, cast-in-place, box culverts to assist with proper land drainage and to handle storm run-off. The project included excavation and fine grading for the 6’ x 3’ box culverts, construction of the culverts along with wing walls for each structure on either side of the roadway, supplying and placing rip-rap rock in the drainage ditches, and backfilling & reestablishing grade. During construction, site water had to be handled either diversion or pumping away from the work sites.
