Central Arizona Irrigation & Drainage District, Arizona City, AZ – The project owner, Central Arizona Irrigation & Drainage District, headquartered in Eloy, Arizona, was experiencing serious deterioration of their irrigation channel between Harmon Road and Lamb Road west of Sunland Gin in Arizona City. Cracking, spalling and general concrete failure was prevalent in this area due to years of heavy use and lack of maintenance.
DBA’s scope of work included:
- Removal of deteriorated materials
- Overexcavation and mud removal
- Backfilling and compaction
- Forming for new concrete panel pours
- Jjoint sealant
The concrete panels were 7.5 feet on the slope, with a measurement of 3.5 feet at the bottom. The bottoms were slightly rounded and met up with bottom panels measuring 8 feet long with a 6” thickened edge at the top. The concrete thickness for all panels was 3” for each of the panels. Completion of the project was required during a planned dry-up period for the customers.
