US Fish & Wildlife – Alchesay-Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery
Ft. Apache Indian Reservation, Arizona – DBA’s contract with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service consisted of rehabilitating all of the fish hatchery raceways with a two-part Sika mortar mix followed by a two-part epoxy. Prior to beginning our work, the fish hatchery employees needed to remove all of the fish and relocate them. Our work started with the dewatering of the raceways. Proper scheduling had to take place because not all raceways could be dewatered all at the same time so that the fish could be protected. Once the dewatering operation was complete, DBA had to power wash the walls & floors of the raceway before the rehabilitation could take place.
The rehabilitation consisted of chipping out the old concrete followed by the application of the two-part Sika material (Sika 107 & 123). Once the material had fully cured, DBA made a quality check to ensure that deviations in the walls and floors were non-existent, and then the epoxy coating was applied.
