Phoenix, Arizona – DBA’s scope of work included:
- Concrete and asphalt sawcutting and removals
- Valley gutter removals
- Installation of 12” ductile iron pipe for drainage
- Replacement of both the concrete paving and the asphalt paving
- Curb replacement
The contract was awarded in September, but the City required all construction to be halted between early November through New Year’s Day to accommodate holiday shoppers and the accompanying added traffic. Most of the underground work was completed during evening and weekend hours so that traffic could be opened up for daily commuters on Monday morning.
Extensive potholing was executed prior to beginning the work which revealed multiple utilities within the footprint of the project including existing water, sewer, high pressure gas and communications. Some utility relocations were required. It was also discovered that several pipes had been installed with the building’s infrastructure but had not been connected to the nearest manhole. This was also accomplished during construction.
