Design-Build New 230KV Substation – Sharyland Utilities, Amarillo, Texas
The project consists of preparing the infrastructure in West Texas (21 acres of pristine desert land) for a new electrical substation. DBA’s contract was to perform all of the earthwork operations including clearing, grubbing, grading, drainage of approximately 35,000 CY of earth material, and a 650’x450′ pad preparation for the substation equipment. DBA was also responsible for building a new access roadway (approx. 1 mile in length) to the site, forming and placement of two concrete low-water crossings, placement of 8,000 tons of aggregate base for the roadway section, erosion control in the form of SWPPP measures and rip-rap placement, and miscellaneous pipe culverts for site drainage.
