Phoenix – 91st Avenue WWTP Debris Removal
Phoenix, AZ – City of Phoenix awarded the project to DBA Construction using the design-bid-build method. The project’s scope of work included:
- Removal of dirt and construction debris (concrete, rebar, and other construction materials from demolition projects), haul these materials to an off-site location (approx. 15,000 CY)
Extensive earthwork included:
- Clearing & grubbing to include the removal of all bushes, shrubs and trees except for those indicated on a list to be saved
- Removal of existing concrete and solid chunks of material to 18 inches below the finish grade
- Backfilling of voids from removal of materials
- Grading and compaction of earthen berms; adjacent drainage ditch; dirt roadways; and slopes which were to be rounded on top and at the ends (approximately 29,000 SY)
Grading specifications were shown on construction plans and in order to meet these requirements, some material needed to be moved from one area within the site to another, as in a borrow/excess situation to bring the various areas up to designed grades and contours.
DBA was also required to construct a concrete headwall and trask rack, place rip-rap on slopes to prevent erosion (approximately 6 tons), and replace 87 LF of 18” reinforced concrete storm drain pipe within the site belonging to the St. Johns Irrigation District.
