Through DBA’s Job Order Contract with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) for Bridge Deck Repairs, we were recently awarded a job order to complete necessary improvements to the bridge across the Salt River along Bush Highway. The bridge is heavily used for camping, boating, tubing, and picnicking along the Salt River Recreational Area near Apache Junction.
Over time, the bridge had worn out the bearing pads under the deck and they were slipping out of place at one end of the bridge. DBA drilled holes through the bridge diaphragms to get to the bearing pads. We utilized a system for jacking up the entire deck at one end to replace all of the bearing pads (a total of 6). After the new pads were put in place, DBA crews began the process of placing an Epoxy seal on the deck (closing one half of the 4-lane bridge at time in order to allow traffic to continue to flow).
