Under our contract with Overland Contracting, Inc. (OCI), DBA was awarded its second contract in Louisiana for site development services of a new power substation for Entergy. The Robert Substation is located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Madisonville, Louisiana. The 8-acre site included:
+ Clearing and grubbing of a heavily wooded site
+ Rough and fine grading
+ Site drainage including the installation of 12″, 15″, and 18″ RCP with bedding
+ Installation of 24″ CHDPE piping with bedding
+ Placement of rip-rap (approximately 2,000 tons)
+ Development and compaction for equipment pads
+ Placement of 610 Base material
+ Importing 35,000 CY of base material
+ Installation of catch basins
+ Establishment of a retention basin for site drainage
+ Access roadway establishment
+ Installation of fencing, entrance gates, and bollards
+ Storm water pollution prevention measures
+ Installation of channelizers along Highway 190 to prevent left-hand turns out of the site onto the highway
+ Traffic control measures
Immediately following the kick-off meeting for the construction of the Robert Substation, OCI met with DBA management to add the expansion of a second substation at the Fairview site approximately 18 miles away. This included clearing, grubbing, site drainage, roadway access, and pad development for additional equipment on the 1-acre expansion.
While under construction of the two substations, DBA negotiated a third project with OCI to establish a complete 125′-wide right-of-way between the two substations for the 18-mile distance. This included extensive clearing and grubbing, fencing and gate installation, access roadway establishment, and hydroseeding.
All three projects were completed simultaneously in December, 2018.
