Utilizing DBA’s Job Order Contract with the City of Scottsdale, several infrastructure improvements projects were recently completed. The original project to build the Water Campus included funding only for the treatment and conveyance of water. No funding was spent to improve the general infrastructure for the site which resides in a floodplain. Several job orders were undertaken over the course of multiple years that included:
- Water Campus Paving Improvements – DBA was responsible for the paving of all dirt access roads throughout the 15-acre site. Our scope of work included roadway excavation, subgrade preparation, AC and PCC paving, constructing valley gutters, curb and gutter, provide crack sealing, adjust manholes and extensive erosion control.
- Water Campus Drainage and Utility Infrastructure – DBA was contracted to provide earthwork and extensive trenching throughout the facility to install conduit for future solar array uses, install multiple concrete vaults, and manholes. The drainage improvement project included extensive grading, hand placement of rip-rap on new retention basin slopes, placement of curb, gutter and valley gutters, aprons, adjustments to utilities and AC paving. The project also included the installation of a 3-barrel, elliptical storm drain pipe going under the perimeter wall and tying into the existing storm drain system under Union Hills Drive.
- The first job order was to provide the Water Campus with improved landscaping and hardscaping that included an awning over the main office entrance, installation of additional decomposed granite on slopes for retention basins, concrete benches and trash receptacles and the relocation of some large cacti to enhance the look of the area near the main office.
