The summer monsoons of 2014 hit the west valley extra hard. The Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino near Laveen, Arizona experienced unprecedented rainfall and unpredictable run-off from nearby mountains. Flash flooding in the area overtopped the adjacent drainage channel bringing debris to the property, exposing underground utilities, and obliterating the existing retention basins.
DBA was hired to regrade a large portion of the property, clean out all of the debris and re-landscape the retention basins to return them to their original condition. Underground utility lines were reburied, the gabions at one end of the channel were reassembled and placed, sections of the concrete lined channel were re-lined with geotextile fabric and shotcreted over to prevent further erosion, concrete bollards were placed and the golf cart path was restored.
